Hallowe’en

Hallowe’en fever took over our classroom the week before our Midterm Break.

In Art we made spooky Hallowe’en castles. We worked really hard!  We also constructed spiders using pipe cleaners and pumpkins.

In Science we learned all about the Skeletal System. We now know the names of lots of bones in our body. We also know lots of interesting facts about the skeleton. Do you know that children have more bones than adults in their bodies? In Irish we learned all about Oíche Shamhna and in Geography we learned of Hallowe’en traditions in China, Poland, Mexico and Belgium.

In English we wrote descriptive Monster characters and read them out to the class.  We wrote Magic Potions with our partners too. We also drew and described different Halloween costumes that people could wear trick-or-treating.

On Thursday, the senior end of the school was buzzing with excitement as 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th took part in a Hallowe’en quiz.

On the day of the holidays everyone came in dressed up. We had lots of fun trying to figure out who everyone was.   After big break we had a party. We played traditional Hallowe’en games such as ‘bob the apple’, ‘blind man’s bluff’, ‘how to make zombies laugh’, Hallowe’en statues and ‘what time is it Mrs. Witch’.  Great fun was had by all!!
