Thursday, 9th October 2014 was National Tree Day and with this in mind, the pupils of Infants, 1st & 2nd headed for Curraghchase National Park to explore the wonders of forest life. We departed from the school gates at 9:20am and began our Woodland Adventure at 10:15am. It was a terrific walk through truly beautiful scenery. The children collected samples of leaves, nuts and seeds to bring back to school with them. Our guides gave us lots of interesting information about the trees and creatures that we saw along the way. We learned about the swans and ducks that inhabit the man made lake in the park and we even met a few brave frogs who hopped out to say hello. Thankfully the weather stayed dry  for our time in Kilcornan. Everyone returned to the school for 12:30pm, exhausted but happy with our morning out of the classroom. In the afternoon, the children examined the treasures that they had gathered and we used them to create beautiful leaf rubbing art. A hugely enjoyable day was had by all! It is great to get out in the fresh air! These are the days that we remember!
