Board of Management
The Board of Management at St. Fergus’ National School plays a vital role in the leadership and overall running of the school. It is responsible for the governance of the school, supporting the principal and staff, and ensuring that the school provides a safe, inclusive, and high-quality learning environment for all children.
How the Board Works

The Board meets at least five times each school year.

Additional meetings may be called in the event of new appointments, urgent matters, or emergencies.

All members of the Board work on a voluntary basis and give generously of their time and expertise.
Who Is on the Board?
The Board is made up of eight members, representing different parts of the school community:

Chairperson (appointed by the Patron)

Principal (Secretary to the Board)

Teacher nominees

Two parent nominees (one mother and one father elected by parents)

Two community nominees
-
One nominee of the Patron
This mix ensures that a broad range of views and experiences are considered in decision-making.
What the Board Does
The Board is responsible for:

Supporting the Principal in the day-to-day management of the school

Ensuring compliance with Department of Education policies

Overseeing school finances and maintenance

Helping to shape school policies and development plans

Acting as a link between the school and the wider community
