Our Percussion Workshop in the School Halla

The beating of drums filled the air as the pupils of St Fergus’ NS participated in a Drumming Workshop with Martin Schaerer of Percussion Workshop Dingle (http://www.percussionworkshop.ie/index.php), on Monday 6th February 2016. Martin, a native of Switzerland took each class for 45 minutes and used a variety of drums to introduce use to rhythm and beat. We used everyday phrases (e.g. I had gran-o-la) to tap out the beat using body percussion and we were so good that most classes progressed onto a “round” system, where up to three groups in a class played 3 rhythms at a time. The sound was amazing. Just look at the joy on the faces in the pictures below-a great day and a great experience. Larry Mullin, eat your heart out!
