Explaining Learning Difficulties

Dyslexia

Dyslexia is a specific learning difficulty which makes it hard for some children to read, write and spell correctly. Dyslexia may affect the development of the child’s ability to remember in sequence what is seen or heard, his/her ability to identify sounds in words and his/her ability to put things in order e.g. months, letters, stories. It may affect concentration, co-ordination, letter/numeral formation skills and the speed of reading and understanding. In addition children may have problems with directions, recognising left and right, spelling and copying words and numbers from a book or a blackboard. A child with dyslexia may have mild to severe learning difficulties.
